The post is our first Youth Voice Apprentice who will be working with me to support the YPIL teams across the UK, so a great adventure to be a part of.

About the Role

Over a third of our funding goes to the smallest of grassroots groups, right up to large UK-wide charities to ensure children and young people thrive. We strongly believe that when people are in the lead, communities thrive and so plan to recruit teams of young people across our country portfolios following the success of YPIL England throughout 2021.

It is through the Young People in the Lead advisory panels for each country, we aim to meet the issues young people and their communities are facing head on, with the aim of steering significant and positive change in communities. We therefore have big plans for youth voice within our work which this role will help us to achieve.

This exciting new role will offer the successful candidate an opportunity to assist on the development and delivery of the Fund’s objective to put young people in the lead. This will involve:

• Assisting the programme team, supporting on driving activity forward, working collaboratively across the organisation with funding, data, learning and engagement colleagues.
• A commitment to learning and improvement, and the development of a long-term strategy that enables young people and communities to thrive.
• Representing the Fund, collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders across charities, funders, internal stakeholders and government.
  
  

As an apprentice, you’ll play an important role in the delivery of our strategic objectives while being given the opportunity to gain experience in a challenging and interesting environment.

Your success in this role will be dependent on building strong relationships in the local community, as well as supporting and mentoring young people through their involvement with the Fund.

Of course, you’ll also need to work within the Fund’s policies and procedures and the necessary legislation, and in a way that is in line with our vision and principles.


Essential Criteria

• A passion for working with and putting young people in the lead
• Good communication skills with a range of people including young people, staff, and organisations
• Knowledge of multiple IT Packages
• Ability to support/mentor young people throughout their experience at the Fund

Desirable Criteria

• Experience of arranging meetings and events
• Knowledge of issues and policies affecting young people
