Public Health Specialist - School Aged Children and Young People

Salary: £38,973 p.a.

Hours: 37 per week

Contract type: Fixed term contract until June 2025

The Public Health Team at Swindon Borough Council is seeking to recruit a Public Health Specialist to lead on our work in improving health outcomes and tackling inequalities linked to health for school-aged children and young people. A key part of the role will be reviewing the Healthy Schools Programme, to agree a sustainable model in supporting settings to be health-promoting environments.

Experience of working in or with schools or on a relevant children’s agenda is highly desirable. You must bring enthusiasm to support change and a strong background in project or programme management as well as an ability to work across organisational boundaries and build strong relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.

We are looking for a strategic thinker, who can identify pragmatic levers for change to enable and encourage good health for all children and young people in Swindon.

As a Public Health Specialist, you will need to be resilient and motivated; a strong team player who is comfortable working with a range of partner organisations; and taking the lead on major projects.

Hybrid working is available at the present time with a requirement to be able to travel to Swindon Borough Council Offices and across the Borough as required.
