Museum of Computing volunteer - Computer Club Teacher

We’re looking for a reliable and experienced individual to help us in our mission to educate the next generation of computer users. The ideal volunteer for this role will have:

  • Good computer skills, including some knowledge of programming.
  • Previous experience in an educational setting is helpful but not essential.
  • Comfortable working with Children aged 8-16, a bit of Patience and willingness to help
  • An interest in technology.

 

Location:

Museum of Computing, Theatre Square, SN1 1QN

Volunteer’s Responsibilities:

  • Lead Computer Club classes by following pre-prepared lesson plans.
  • Help children with their activities, such as programming games in Scratch3 and Python
  • Coordinate with other volunteer teachers and assistants to ensure a staffed Rota each week.
  • Prepare classroom before sessions
  • Help children with their activities, such as programming games in Scratch
  • Assist in preparation and planning of lessons, courses, workshops and competitions.
 

Training and Support Plan:

Short induction session

 

Time Commitment:

  • Saturday mornings 10.00 – 12.00 noon or 13.00-15.00 on rota basis

 

Dress Code:

Clean, tidy and practical

A volunteer badge must be worn at all times.

Other points:

  • Extended DBS check will be carried out for all Computer Club volunteers
