Voice of the Sector and BSW Integrated Care System

We act as the Voice for the VCSE when it’s not practical to invite the whole sector to meetings.  We have provided the voice for the local VCSE on the Swindon Health and Wellbeing Board for many years.  We also share the VCSE perspective on the Swindon Community Safety Partnership and other statutory groups when requested..

Since 2021, nationally and locally, VAS along with other council for voluntary services (CVS), is playing a key role in the developing Integrated Care System structures as the voice for the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector.

Bath and North East Somerset (BaNES), Swindon and Wiltshire Together (BSW Together)is one of 42 Integrated Care systems formed in law in July 2022.  The system brings NHS organisations including the Hospitals and Primary Care (GP’s) together with local authorities, Community Services and third-sector organisations – both at the system level and at each place. Watch a helpful explainer video here on how it works.

Voluntary Action Swindon with 3SG for BaNES and Wessex Community Action for Wiltshire, together with the Rural Community Council for Wiltshire and Swindon, Community First have partnered to form a BSW VCSE Leadership Alliance at the system level.

Three place based Voluntary Sector Leadership Alliances feed into this.

Pam Webb, who leads on this work for VAS, also sits on the BSW Integrated Care Board as the VCSE member.
