Volunteer with the Salvation Army
Gloucester House is a Salvation Army, residential substance misuse service. We have been treating clients for over 50 years and are passionate about igniting the unique potential of every individual to inspire our clients and embrace on-going change, supporting to build a new life, free from addiction. At Gloucester House we endeavour to provide an environment where clients feel safe enough to risk change and a treatment experience that is conducive to recovery.
Our therapeutic in house Art/ Crafts and journaling group runs on a weekly basis every Wednesday afternoon between 13:30 – 16:00 (including a 30 min break) within Gloucester House based in Highworth, SN6 7AG. We are currently seeking 1 – 2 volunteers to engage our residents in an interactive afternoon session creating art projects in a supportive and friendly group setting with projects ranging from painting, drawing to collage, printing, crafts, clay modelling and more. People can also work on their own projects and develop their own ideas.
Please note the group start time is 13:30, however, volunteers arrive earlier to set up the room.
- Prior experience in an Art Teacher role is desirable
- Demonstrated excellence in a variety of art techniques.
- Capacity to supervise group work
- Supportive flexible and understanding disposition.
- Prepare the classroom and setting up equipment.
- Ensure the classroom is clean and tidy after each session.
- Monitor inventory and sourcing art supplies as needed (funded).
- Develop residents drawing, colouring, and painting techniques.
- Pottery and kiln experience is desirable.
- Able to commit to volunteering on a weekly basis to be available for sessions every Wednesday afternoon 13:30 – 16:00
