Role Summary:  The Green Machine Tech Hub CIC is seeking a mature volunteer with a passion for technology and a strong background in building and repairing computers and laptops. As a Computer and Laptop Repair Volunteer, you will play a crucial role in supporting our mission to provide affordable and accessible tech solutions to the local community. Your expertise and dedication will help bridge the digital divide and contribute to a more sustainable and inclusive society.

Responsibilities:

• Computer and Laptop Repair: Utilize your technical expertise to diagnose, repair, and upgrade computers and laptops brought to the Tech Hub by community members, ensuring they are in good working condition.
• Hardware and Software Installation: Install and configure hardware components, operating systems, and software applications as needed.
• Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough testing and quality checks on repaired devices to ensure optimal performance and customer satisfaction.
• Customer Interaction: Interact with clients in a friendly and professional manner, providing guidance, advice, and support throughout the repair process.
• Knowledge Sharing: Share your expertise and knowledge with other volunteers and members of the community, fostering a learning environment at the Tech Hub.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to health and safety guidelines while handling equipment and working in the workshop.

Requirements:

• Technical Skills: Demonstrable experience in building and repairing computers and laptops, including hardware troubleshooting and software installations.
• Communication: Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with diverse community members, including those with limited technical knowledge.
• Reliability: A dependable and punctual individual who can commit to a consistent part-time schedule as agreed upon.
• Passion for Technology: A genuine enthusiasm for technology and a desire to make a positive impact on the community through your skills.
• Team Player: Willingness to collaborate with other volunteers and staff to achieve the Tech Hub’s objectives.
• Respectful and Patient: Able to approach clients with respect, patience, and empathy, recognizing that they may be unfamiliar with technology.
