Volunteer Co-ordinator for Voluntary Action Swindon

Salary: £25,500

Hours: 35 hours, full-time

Reporting to: CEO

Voluntary Action Swindon (VAS) are recruiting for a Volunteer Co-ordinator. We are the Swindon Council for the Voluntary Services (CVS) and support local charities and community groups within Swindon.

We are looking for an individual with previous experience working with volunteers and knowledge of the voluntary sector to provide support and guidance for our volunteer brokerage. This is a great opportunity for a confident individual who has a passion for volunteering.

Key Accountabilities

Volunteering Brokerage for the Sector

  • Manage brokerage of volunteers by seeking volunteer vacancies from the sector, advertising and matching with a bank of recruited volunteers and matching to their skills and interests.
  • Interviewing interested volunteers and matching them with appropriate roles.
  • Offering advice and guidance on recruitment and volunteer training.
  • Provide face to face advice and guidance to individual seeking a volunteering placement.
  • Making sure the placement organisation has all the correct policies and procedures to support their volunteers, including safeguarding and health and safety.
  • Raise awareness of both the need and the role of volunteering in the sector by publishing relevant information and articles ready for the Marketing, Communications and Admin. Officer to promote.
  • Evaluate and improve the volunteering process and experience.
  • Create a regular volunteering newsletter for the sector.
  • Grow corporate volunteering within Swindon using the Team Kinetic platform.
  • Organising events to promote volunteering within Swindon.

Volunteers at VAS

  • Responsible for recruiting and managing a team of volunteers for VAS.
  • Ensuring that reception is covered by volunteers.

  Admin/Business Support

  • Manage the VAS website, ensuring information is up to date in relation to volunteering vacancies and events.
  • Producing a range of documents including e-mails, reports and marketing leaflets to support volunteering.
  • Use our CRM to keep the volunteering information up to date.
  • Monitor and manager info@vas-swindon.org
  • Ensure volunteering policies are up to date, and able to be shared with the sector.
  • Support the Funding and Governance Manager with facilitating the Trustee Network.
