Starting Point Mentoring Program

Starting Point provides a relational, tailored and holistic mentoring programme for young people aged 15-25 who are not in education, employment or training (NEET). Mentoring will provide the young person with practical support, such as CV writing and other employability skills, as well as social-emotional support, such as helping improve a young person’s confidence and self-esteem. It works by matching each young person to a mentor who is best suited to them who then offer consistent, reliable support to help the young person achieve their goals and attain, sustain and thrive in education employment and training.

There is no time limit and no last chance with Starting Point. We want each young person to feel valued, believed in and to understand their potential.

In its 8 years of running, Starting Point has seen transformation the lives over 250 young people. Last year, over 100 young people received mentoring at Starting Point, with 44% accessing employment, 26% accessing education and 50% accessing short term opportunities (such as work experience). Starting Point recruits and equips local volunteer mentors in Swindon to meet the need of the young people in Swindon.
