Help CTA Reach Community Bus Operators and Enable Their Views to be Heard

Are you running community bus routes under a Section 22 permit? Or have you considered doing so?

CTA is conducting a research project to understand how Section 22 services are working on the ground, what challenges exist, and what support is needed.

Even if you haven’t used S22 your insight is still crucial. If you’ve considered it but decided not to, they want to understand why.

Take their short survey to help them understand:

  • What concerns or barriers you’ve encountered
  • What support or changes might help
  • How your current model compares in terms of passengers, funding, and service scope

 Your input will help:

  • Raise awareness of the unique role your services play in local transport.
  • Build a better national picture of how S22 services are working.
  • Inform new recommendations for improving support, guidance, and sustainability.
  • Ensure Section 22 permit operators have a stronger voice in shaping future community transport policy.

Whether you’ve used S22, are currently exploring it, or ruled it out your perspective is vital in shaping future support for community bus services.

This is the first stage of engagement in this project,  CTA will also be conducting structured interviews over the coming months to dig deeper into key themes.  You can express your interest in undertaking an interview with them at the end of the survey.

Join us at the CTA England Conference on 16 September where they’ll be discussing early findings and inviting further feedback.  This event is open to all with an interest in community transport.

Want to be keep in the loop? Sign up to the Deep Dive Engagement Group to stay updated and shape the next stages of this work.
