Outdoor Education Operations Manager

Hours: 36.5 hrs per week, including regular evening, weekend and school holiday work.
Salary: £32,164 gross per annum plus 7% employers pension contribution.
Contract: Fixed term contract for 2 years with extension subject to available funds.
Location: The role is based at Oxenwood Outdoor Education Centre, with some outreach delivery at alternative venues throughout Wiltshire, including Linkenholt Countryside Adventure Centre.

Community First is a local charity that works to improve the lives of people in Wiltshire and Swindon including employability programmes, young people’s support, community programmes. Their outdoor education arm is run through their two sites at Oxenwood and Linkenholt and they offer residential activities to school, scout, guide and youth groups as well as Duke of Edinburgh activities. They are now entering into an exciting period for the two centres with ambitious plans at Oxenwood to undergo a significant capital upgrade in the coming years.

They are now looking for an experienced Operations Manager to join our small but dedicated outdoor education team. Working closely with the Centre Manager and other members of the team you will support the safe running of the centres, support growth and get involved in the day-to-day management, bookings, programme development and delivery at the sites.

They are looking for someone who is committed to the benefits of positive activities, outdoor education, and ideally have an interest in heritage education. You will be dynamic, dedicated and have experience in a similar setting and able to deliver to groups as and when required as part of the delivery rota.

The role focusses on ensuring the safe & effective running of our outdoor education offer, which includes a range of high-quality varied day, multi-day & residential experiences.

You will have strong administration & interpersonal skills, hold a range of relevant instructor’s awards, have experience and a passion for designing, organising, and delivering varied outdoor education group work activities. Be able to work flexible hours, working with all ages but also be able to relate and inspire young people. Be creative, able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

The role will include evening, weekend, and school holiday working.

Due to the nature of the work, you will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS check.
