Chief Executive Officer Role at Voluntary Action Swindon (VAS)

Role: Chief Executive Officer

Status: Permanent role – 35 hours per week

Salary: £38,000 – £43,000

Accountable to: VAS Board of Trustees (line managed by Chair or another designated Trustee)

VAS was established in 1932 and is the local ‘Council for Voluntary Service’. We provide infrastructure support to Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector groups and organisations in Swindon, helping them to grow in terms of capability and capacity. We also ensure the sector has a voice to help influence policy makers.

Our current CEO, Richard Hill, will be retiring in July and we are consequently seeking a replacement. We are open to the possibility of the new incumbent joining VAS a short while before Richard leaves, to help facilitate a smooth handover.

You will be responsible for delivery of all operational matters at VAS, and you will be working closely with the Trustee Board to further develop and implement strategy for the organisation. You will also have an important external facing role in terms of representing the local VCSE to key policy and decision makers in the town.

You will need to be a strong leader with a demonstrable track record of achievement, and an ability to build and sustain relationships with a wide range of (often senior) stakeholders. You will bring a balance of VCSE experience and a commercial focus to the organisation.
