Chief Executive Officer
Richard joined VAS in May 2015 and is responsible for all aspects of the operation and performance of the organisation. He brings a wealth of business experience to VAS, having worked for NatWest Bank and Burmah-Castrol before joining Zurich Financial Services. He spent nearly 29 years at Zurich in a variety of roles, most recently as Head of Protection Operations – the part of Zurich’s business that administers their life cover, critical illness and income protection policies.
Richard has had a keen interest in the voluntary and community sector for many years and was actively involved in the work of Zurich’s Community Trust. He is also a Trustee of the Swindon Therapy Centre for Multiple Sclerosis.
Seniz has worked in the voluntary and community sector for over 12 years in both a voluntary and professional capacity in Swindon and Bristol. Her role involves planning and organising an Annual Community Fair to help promote local voluntary and community sector services to the residents of Swindon. She supported the development of the Swindon Equality Coalition, an independent voluntary organisation whose mission is to achieve an equal society within Swindon by the removal of all forms of discrimination.
Russ has been involved in Voluntary Action Swindon, and the local voluntary sector, for more than six years. In this time he has worked in a number of roles, including fundraising, marketing, and development. Russ has worked for other local charities including Swindon Carers Centre and the SMASH Youth Project. Russ’s current role at VAS involves advising charities and community groups on fundraising, governance and other organisational issues.
Hannah’s background is rooted in community work. She has worked on a range of youth and community projects over 15+ years, both professionally and voluntarily, in cities including Bristol and Cardiff – but particularly here in Swindon.
She is trained and has worked in community development in the central area of Swindon and is involved with several organisations and projects in the wider Swindon area. She is currently employed by Voluntary Action Swindon on a 10 month maternity-cover contract and is covering the equality work as well as supporting the development of lunch clubs in Swindon. Hannah is also Chair of Trustees for local charity Viewpoint Community Media and Vice Chair of the national Community Media Association. As a trained graphic designer, she has a passion for bringing creativity and community action together.
James’ role is to provide a variety of administration services to ensure VAS runs effectively and efficiently. James manages the day to day running of the VAS reception, providing a first point of call for help and support to the volunteer reception team. James helps ensure that the day to day physical and operational aspects of Sanford House run smoothly. James also provides administrative support to the Swindon Sports Forum as part of our infrastructure contract with Swindon Borough Council.
Facilities & Maintenance Officer
Jonathan is based at Sanford House which is a project run by Voluntary Action Swindon, as a hub for the voluntary sector. His role involves managing the building, ensuring that all permanently based voluntary groups and the general public are satisfied. Jonathan is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the building. He is a fully qualified PAT tester and runs our PAT testing service.
