Read the article by going to the Swindon Advertiser Website. During Anti-Bullying week 2015 the Swindon Equality Coalition and Out of the Can members took the opportunity to reignite people’s thoughts on the impact of the words they use, as well share information about the Coalitions involvement in local campaigns.
Joint working between Voluntary Action Swindon – Swindon Equality Coalition, Out of the Can a local Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual & Transgender (LGBT) Youth group, Wiltshire Council and Wiltshire Police resulted in the delivery of the campaign to 4,500 students in Swindon schools – and many more schools across Wiltshire prior to this. As part of the campaign and the anti-bullying week of action Out of the Can members also reached out to victims, sending out a clear message to young people to let them know they are not alone. Out of the Can are a group dedicated to support and empower young LGBT people aged between 13 and 19, on average, in Swindon. This campaign was an ideal opportunity to lead Young people to support services that they may otherwise not been aware of. Well done and thank you to all involved.
