Swindon Scrapstore Is Moving Premises
The Swindon Children’s Scrapstore is relocating to new premises at Unit 7, Bramble Close, Elgin Industrial Estate, Swindon, SN2 8DW on Saturday 13th February 2016.
They are moving from Unit 2, Bramble Close to Unit 7, Bramble Close – which is just around the corner so should not impact customers and service users.
The Scrapstore will close at 2pm on Saturday 13th February at their current premises Unit 2, Bramble Close and re-open the following Tuesday 16th February 2016 at 10am in their new premises based in Elgin Industrial Estate. There is onsite parking and ground floor access.
Swindon Children’s Scrapstore is a registered environmental charity, community resource centre and social enterprise set up in 1985 to support the local community, providing a wide variety of clean, re-usable materials for re-use in educational and recreational play.
Project Manager Olivia McCann said: “the Scrapstore has been in operation for the past 30 years and benefits over 40,000 people in Swindon through the services and resources we offer.” This will be the fourth time the Scrapstore has moved premises in the past 14 years, twice due to building demolitions and once due to a fire which destroyed their premises in Cheney Manor Industrial Estate in early 2011.
For the upcoming move, the Scrapstore has received support from the DHL Logistic Team, who also helped them during the last 2 relocations.
The Scrapstore are now fundraising to try and raise money to buy their own building, so that they can find a permanent home and not have to keep moving.
The Scrapstore would like to say a very big thank you to the following:
- Howdens Branch Manager, Robert Morgan for the complete kitchen and that they donated
- Andy McCann & Ben Robinson of R&K Design & Build, Swindon for designing the layout of the new building and the fabrication and installation of the timber frame internal units
- Aaron Debank of Adgas & Sons Ltd, Swindon for supplying and installing the toilet, sink, water heater and plumbing needed to make the unit fit for use
- Buildbase Branch Manager, Mike Augar and Travis Perkins, Andy Badcock for giving the Scrapstore a discount on the materials they need to build offices and project space
The Scrapstore’s opening hours are: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
10am – 4pm and every Saturday during 10am – 2pm.
