Launch of the Swindon Connecting People Network
Wiltshire Community Foundation is working together with Swindon Borough Council, Age UK Wiltshire and Bath University on the Swindon Connecting People Network. The Network has been inspired by Robert Buckland MP’s Loneliness Summit which has raised the profile of loneliness in Swindon.
The purpose of convening the Connecting People Network is to bring organisations together from across Swindon, who have an interest in or provide day to day activities that connect people and address loneliness, to complement the strategic activities of the Campaign to End Loneliness.
Initial aims will be to:
- map current provision and activities (those provided by statutory services, the voluntary sector and local community organisations);
- identify gaps and needs and priorities
- collaboratively consider challenges and identify potential solutions
The first meeting of the Network will take place on Tuesday 26 March 2019 from 10 am – 1.30pm at Toothill Community Centre, Village Centre, Toothill, Swindon SN5 8DH. Wiltshire Community Foundation would be delighted for any interested individuals, voluntary or community groups to join them to help shape the network.
The launch will comprise a short introduction to the Network and it will be followed by workshop sessions which will look at the issues surrounding loneliness in Swindon, what is currently being done to address these issues and what more could be done.

This initiative forms part of Wiltshire Community Foundation’s Loneliness Uncovered project which is supported by the Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport and the Community Fund.
