The following is a message from Lee Bowen, Development Officer for SanfordLinkTTC.
With recent success by GB and finishing second in the medals table an with GB Table tennis Team finishing third against the best in world it is time to prepared for 2020.
My name is Lee Bowen Development Officer for SanfordLink TTC, and the Swindon League. We have been established for over 50 years and affiliated member of Table Tennis England and have Premier Club Status.
We staged a number FREE open days at GLL for anyone to come along and play table tennis, we had excellent media coverage, by the Advertiser and local coverage too in all the Schools and Health schools, and the turnout was excellent.
We being doing after school coaching at Swindon/Churchfields Academies, for some time. Our club have moved their coaching facilities too Swindon Academy on Friday nights, all coaching is delivered by 3 qualified coaches. We run Butterfly skill programme which is run by TTE where individuals can achieve different awards level Bronze, Silver Gold AT THREE LEVELS Starter,Improver an Advance and can attain a certificate after successful completion at each level.
We are looking to expand this further, to other Academies/schools and welcome your feedback if this is something you may be interested in, it’s FREE!
With the recent success in staging the first schools games at Swindon Academy in May 2016 we are also looking to centralise coaching at one venue, in the future, with a view to inviting pupils from other schools to participate in this sport. Long term to introduce Inter-school leagues, which has already started at Swindon Academy on a small scale.
We are looking to get this going November/December or earlier. All table tennis equipment would be supplied by the Swindon league with the exception of tables.
