Everyday First Aid
FREE EVERYDAY FIRST AID SESSIONS FOR ORGANISATIONS WORKING WITH GROUPS OF OLDER PEOPLE IN SWINDON
Learn some simple life saving skills for around the home and to help those around you. British Red Cross run very simple and easy Everyday First Aid sessions for groups of older people, carers, families, staff and volunteers working with groups of 65+. They are fun and interactive and tailored to the group’s needs and abilities, making the sessions relevant and easier to remember. British Red Cross focus on skills around trips and falls, choking, heart attacks and strokes. By learning a few simple skills, people become equipped with the knowledge and support to help someone in an emergency. British Red Cross are very flexible with their sessions and can tailor the skills to meet the groups interests, and create an enjoyable experience by building people’s confidence and willingness. They can also look at how individuals’ mobility can be supported when carrying out certain skills. For example, they might look at how people could carry out chest compressions with a foot if someone was unable to kneel on the floor.
The sessions can be a short session of a hour or longer of up to 2 hours, but British Red Cross can be flexible with this, and can accommodate up to 20 people per session, at your own venue. British Red Cross work with groups only. Each individual will receive a booklet of the skills covered and a certificate of learning at the end of each session.
